A relatively new but extremely popular genre of video games is real-time strategy games which are increasingly gaining a lot of popularity. Such games provide a virtually realistic computer enabled orientation of the semi-realistic problems which the player has to solve and reach the target using his skills and strategy. Popular games like Rise of Empires, Conquerors, Age of Empires etc. are some of the big players in this genre; but there are some other small games also available under this category, like Fantastic Farm (Linux) v.1.04 which certainly deserves a try from every fan of the genre.
The game is based over a young girl named Maggie who has just completed her school and now has the responsibility of running her parent’s farm which is being eyed upon by a shrewd business man who is threatening the family to takeover the farm land for his own use. Now, you have to control this little but high aspirations driven girl who now takes the charge of running her hereditary farm and converting it into a prosperous business. The game has a nice and brightly lit graphics with an isometric interface and all the characters and objects have been designed in an interesting way. The player has to grow trees on the farm, rear animals, and operate machines in order to produce various articles. The game features a variety of different elements i.e. six different types of plants, three distinct type of machines and four animal breeds. The whole game consists of about 150 levels over the five selectable modes of gameplay.
Fantastic Farm (Linux) v.1.04 earns an overall score of three and a half out of five for its attractive interface and interesting gameplay which will keep you immersed in the gameplay for long hours.
